Mersin Chamber of Shipping Maritime Faculty Project
Providing simulators and technical equipment support to Mersin University Maritime Vocational School which currently provides education at Mersin University's Tece Campus, Mersin Chamber of Shipping undertook the construction of the Maritime Faculty with a new and modern education faculty in the Mersin University’s central campus to enable maritime students to fully acquire the competencies required by the profession and to receive education in a modern and well-equipped faculty as well. The rough construction of the faculty was completed in 2022; whose preparation, research, project design and tender processes were completed in earlier stages. Final acceptance of the project has been made and the trim works started in 2023. Mersin University MDTO Maritime Faculty project was completed in April 2024. Mersin University MDTO Maritime Faculty was built in accordance with the STCW convention published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) which sets the standards of maritime education and training. A meticulous focus was given to the utilization of high-level technology and quality of materials. The faculty which will bear the name of our Chamber, was delivered to Mersin University as a large educational complex with 16,500 square meters of indoor and 8,000 square meters of outdoor space, laboratories, simulation centers and a training pool where sea survival training will be given.

Çarçur Etme Gargur Ye Project
With the “Çarçur Etme Gargur Ye Project”, it is aimed to reduce the pressure on local species and strengthen the resilience of the Mediterranean ecosystem against the negative impacts of alien species through commercialization, to gastronomically evaluate gargur (striped piggy) fish which is considered as a discarded species, and to create a new source of income for fishers in Mersin. Within the scope of the project, which is co-financed by the Small Grants Program of the United Nations Development Programme, information meetings were held in Erdemli and Taşucu to inform fishers, women and businesses that will undertake an important mission in the fight against invasive species and tasting events were held where "gargur tantuni" was served to the participants.
