TOBB Accreditation System

The Accreditation System of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye aims to increase the reputation of the Chambers in the perception of the business world, to expand the types of services offered by the Chambers, to improve the quality of service, and to ensure the harmonization of the Turkish Chamber System with the European Chamber System. The system was first established in 2001 within the scope of the "Accreditation System, Turkish Chamber / Commodity Exchange Development Project TOGP I" in cooperation with EUROCHAMBRES and the British Chambers of Commerce, taking into consideration the best practices of the England and Germany Chamber systems. Thanks to this quality system, a clear road map has been drawn to improve the overall performance of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges and the quality of their organizations. Until 2005, the Chamber Accreditation System, which was supported through cooperation with the British Chambers of Commerce, was expanded in 2008 with the inclusion of the Chamber / Commodity Exchanges in the system and started to be implemented as the Chamber and Commodity Exchange Accreditation System. The Accreditation System, which creates an opportunity to ensure standardisation in the services provided by the Chambers / Commodity Exchanges to their members; also plays an important role in the branding of our Chambers / Commodity Exchanges on local, regional, national and international platforms.

What is Accredited Chamber / Commodity Exchange?

Chambers/Commodity Exchanges starting the accreditation process, which includes meeting the accreditation standards, are audited by independent auditor institutions based on 103 criteria. These criteria cover areas such as management and chamber/exchange legislation, financial management, human resources management, business planning and management, communication and publications, data use and communication technologies, member relations, quality, communication network, policy and representation, information consultancy and support, business development and training, international trade, and stock exchange activities. Chambers/Exchanges are audited under these headings to obtain accreditation status. Accredited Chambers / Commodity Exchanges are subjected to performance measurement at the point of providing sustainable and quality service by being re-audited every three years from the criteria mentioned above. According to the scores obtained as a result of the accreditation evaluation, the Chambers are accredited as A-B and C categories as a result of the audits carried out by TOBB and Türk Loydu. Mersin Chamber of Shipping was awarded the title of "Accredited Chamber" in 2010 by fulfilling the requirements under the Accreditation System. Mersin Chamber of Shipping, which progresses incrementally each year on the path to institutionalization, holds the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate and continues its activities, significantly contributing to the social and economic life of Mersin province, primarily within the maritime sector under its jurisdiction.
